Access Control
Type of admission control or network privilege (full, no, restricted) granted to local users and LAN computers. Concurrent with restricted access, application and service groups may be granted unconditional full or no access.

Application Activity Report
Displays current network connections established by active applications and services.

Application Group
Group of applications identified by the executable file name and path for which a policy (access control, rate control, traffic recording, erase content) may be provisioned.

Content Type Group
Group of content types, where a content type identifies the type of content based on industry standard MIME type identifiers (e.g. text/plain, text/html, application/x-www-url-encoded).

Default Computer
Policies to be enforced for a LAN computer when no explicit policy is specified for that computer.

Policies to be enforced for a locally logged on user when no explicit policy is specified for that user.

Erase Content Group
Phrases that must be obliterated in incoming or outgoing content to grant conditional access to web sites, send or receive email, participate in chat sessions or submit web forms. The restricted phrases are replaced with asterisks. Blocking outgoing content protects children from unwittingly revealing personal information to strangers on the Internet.

File Type Group
Group of file types, where a file type identifies the type of content based on industry standard file type extensions (e.g. .txt, .doc, .ppt, .htm, .exe, .gif).

LAN Computers
Computers that are on the network(s) connected to the Policy.Net gateway computer.

Local Internet Users
Login user name of currently logged on local user on the gateway computer. On Windows XP, when multiple users are logged on locally, the policy provisioned for the user currently attached to the console (fast user switch) is enforced.

Network Activity Report
Displays statistics of all network connections established by applications and services. History is preserved for the provisioned number of days.

Voluntary web site content rating system based on the Platform for Internet Content Selection (PICS) standard.

Service Group
Group of well known services identified by protocol and port numbers for which a policy (access control, rate control, traffic recording, erase content) may be provisioned.

Traffic Rate Control
Reservation of network bandwidth (for outgoing traffic) to guarantee required quality of service to network applications and services. The total reserved bandwidth must not exceed the physical bandwidth based on line speed.

Low level monitoring of network traffic for analysis of content and activity.

Alerts Report
Display of alerts based on provisioned policies for local users and LAN computers. Alerts lead to denial of access. History is preserved for the provisioned number of days.

Phrases in the head (content description) or body (displayed content) of a web page, or in search requests, that unconditionally blocks access to the web site.
